ELDYcare is looking to future-proof the security of residential care through European partnerships

On August 27, 2025, ELDYcare had the privilege of participating in the Connect4Cyber Brokerage and Info Day in Helsinki, organised by the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom and its National Coordination Centre (NCC-FI), in collaboration with the Estonian Information Security Authority (RIA), the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) and its National Coordination Centre for Research and Innovation in Cybersecurity (NCC-SE), Business Finland, and the Finnish Information Security Cluster (FISC). The event gathered innovators, researchers, and companies committed to strengthening Europe’s resilience against growing cyber threats through cross-border collaboration.

At ELDYcare, we know the first hand cybersecurity challenges for environments, like healthcare, and we are proud to bring our hands-on experience from residential care facilities in Estonia to the conversation. Elderly care facilities are highly sensitive environments where both residents’ wellbeing and personal data require the highest levels of protection. Cybersecurity and ensuring residents data privacy is not an optional add-on - it is fundamental to maintaining trust and ensuring compliance with national and EU regulations such as GDPR and NIS2.

Our work so far aligns closely with the objectives of the Connect4Cyber initiative and the European Cybersecurity Competence Centre (ECCC) network, and specifically call: DIGITAL-ECCC-2025-DEPLOY-CYBER-08-CYBERHEALTH: Dedicated action to reinforcing hospitals and healthcare providers.

We see this as an opportunity to:

  • Share practical lessons-learned from deploying ELDYcare’s elderly care facility management platform in real-world settings.
  • Contribute to consortiums working on cybersecurity solutions for critical sectors like healthcare and long-term care.
  • Offer real-life testing environments, where innovative cybersecurity technologies can be piloted and validated with immediate impact on residents and care staff.
  • Strengthen cybersecurity in residential care across Europe, by building strong partnerships with technology providers, research institutions, and care operators to ensure that solutions are both technically robust and practically applicable.

By collaborating in initiatives such as Connect4Cyber, ELDYcare is committed to strengthening Europe’s digital resilience while empowering the long-term care sector with secure, scalable, and human-centered digital solutions.

We are excited about the partnerships and projects that will grow out of this event and look forward to continuing our work at the intersection of long-term care digitalisation and cybersecurity innovation.
